AtWest are the recipients of September's Charity Donation

Here at Brook Food, we are celebrating our 25th anniversary by donating £25 for every order we receive of £1000 or more to a different local charity each month. We are delighted to say that our fundraising for the year to date has reached almost £16,000, with our September donation of £2,000 going to AtWest (Accessible Transport West Somerset), a charity founded for the provision of wheelchair-friendly and fully accessible transport to the residents of West Somerset. Presenting the cheque to the AtWest team on Thursday 3rd October, Ann Wells said, This month we have chosen to donate to AtWest who make a huge difference operating in our rural community, helping those with no access to transport for various reasons including lack of availability, health, age or disability. The service provided by AtWest is an important one, helping to engage people of all ages within our community by way of commuting and attending appointments, as well as many other day to day tasks for which travel isn't always available. Some of our staff here at Brook Food have had family members make use of these means of travel to appointments, and we know that transport like this is something that can very easily be taken for granted, so to help a charity that works in this way is a pleasure. On behalf of AtWest, Barbara Middleton said, We are delighted that you have chosen AtWest as your donation recipient for September. We don't get very much funding at all towards minibuses, though our transport can't work without them. We hope some of this donation can go towards this area, and it can certainly be put towards our training. Something we're also trying to raise funds for is to send out a newsletter twice yearly to our passengers and other interested people to keep them informed of the services they can access. We try to provide an answer to most transport needs, but just because somebody uses one particular service, it's doesn't mean they know about other services, for example, our car scheme which takes 98% of passengers to hospitals, with hundreds of trips to Musgrove Park Hospital, and some even as far as Bristol and Exeter.
