The 2017 Baking Industry Awards are now open for entries and we’ve been looking into why past winners have been chosen. Last years winner, Dominic Salter, first entered the competition when we first sponsored the category back in 2014 and we were so impressed with him then. Dominic has something indescribale, a total passion for what he does, he is a baker through and through, it’s almost a romance he has with his products. The journey he has come on has been inspiring, his family business has grown and a second business has opened. When asked what the awards have brought to his business Dominic comments “Baking is a lonely world and sometimes you feel that your efforts go unnoticed. Let me tell you, this award makes the difference. It is the best form of advertising. To have judges critique your products and say they are good is better than any advertising campaign”. Dominic’s style is unique, he forages, he adapts and he works very hard. The award recognised these efforts and he himself says “Without a bar set the industry will just jog along but when there is a goal this promotes competition and therefore raises standards” showing how important it is for other bakers to enter.
